Kendall Lockett, sophomore
After a strong district meet, sophomore Kendall Lockett thought that Region was going to be her last meet of the season.
“I thought that I wouldn’t have a chance at making State,” Lockett said. “I was excited but so nervous.”
Lockett’s original goal for Region was to just final, whether it be A final or B final. Ultimately she placed in the top 16 for both the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle, allowing her to be chosen as an alternate for the State Meet. This is her first year competing for Kingwood Park and she couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity.
“(I was) thankful that (coach John) Dissinger gave me the opportunity to be with the team at State,” Lockett said. “I think that it’s going to be fun. Although I may not be swimming (at State), it’s a good experience for next year.”
