Band Director Bre Osbourn steps on the podium during marching band rehearsal.

Bre Osbourn, band

Toward the end of my sophomore year, my ex band director Robbie Sitka announced that he would be leaving the band. One of the biggest questions that soared through my head was, “Who is next?” Little did I know that the next director was going to completely change the direction of the band in the best way possible.

I first met the new director Bre Osbourn during the summer before my junior year. At first she was really intimidating, but quickly she made me feel safe. When I met her with a few other band members, she talked to us about her plans for the show this school year and all of the ideas she has to evolve the band.

For example, the production of the show is bigger and better than ever. She added everything from a bridge to bigger and better visuals. She rearranged the music to fit us better, but still made it impactful and powerful.

Ms. Osbourn has also been an inspiration in my personal life. She has been so supportive when I got a job at Whataburger. She would help me with whatever I needed, like if my work affected my availability in band or not. She even went as far to express her very harsh opinions on the shakes there.

While her teaching style is a lot stricter than past years, I think it’s all for the better of the program. We’ve gotten a lot more done in her short time here than years past. Her productivity level is unmatched just like her love for Star Wars. She loved implementing both things she loves with things we love. That even went into picking the theme for next year’s marching show. I think Ms. Osbourn is exactly what me and the band needed.
