Junior Sean Kloesel will compete at the state level for the first time. He was on two of the relays that qualified for state at the Region Meet. He helped the 200 freestyle relay to a first place finish and the 200 medley relay to a third place finish.

“I don’t know how the state meet will go,” Kloesel said. “It’s my first year of swimming, so I’m pretty hyped for it.”

Kloesel, who was originally a football player, decided to begin swimming after success on his summer league team. He wasn’t stressed at all about swimming at the region level.

“[My nerves] were pretty calm, I thought that we were going to do pretty great as a team,” Kloesel said.

Kloesel finished 9th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.00. He was disappointed in his race but he knew that he had already made state in the relay. He is excited to be with his teammates at state.

“They’re all great teammates, they are never focused on just themselves, they’re just focused on the team,” Kloesel said.
