Sophomore Claire Slaydon is inspired and passionate about orchestra. She’s been in love with her viola for five years and plans to continue her musical path.
Orchestra makes up part of Slaydon’s identity and has shaped her into who she is today, from childhood tunes to teen performances. She expects orchestra will continue to have a positive impact as she progresses through high school.
Slaydon grew up with classical music and had loved it ever since.
“I had one specific CD where I would listen to the same song on repeat,” Slaydon said. “It was always a viola, and so I played viola after that.”
Her passion for music only grew since her childhood and flourished in orchestra. Although at times it got hard keeping up with grades and a musical instrument, Slaydon pushed through.
“There was a burnout issue and it made me realize how burned out I am on everything but I’ve always been super focused on music and I want to carry that with me forever,” Slaydon said.
