Paisley Thomas, a junior, is all about self-confidence and self-positivity. She loves helping others, which is why she plans to study psychology and become a psychologist.
Thomas is positive and confident in herself.
“Probably the most important part of my story is just finding who I was as a person,” Thomas said. “I feel like when you’re obligated to go and do something like karate or sports outside of school. It’s like it starts to become a chore, because everyone around you expects that to be your thing.”
She believes that you should be doing what they love. In her free time she creates art and discusses fashion with her friends.
Thomas learned through the things she’d experienced, especially in elementary school. She went to public school from kindergarten to second grade, then was homeschooled until fifth grade.
When she came back to public school, she said she was bullied. It really affected her confidence, Thomas said.
“In elementary school, I was perceived as, like, not the prettiest or smartest,” Thomas said. “I was just kind of a side character.”
By going into psychology, Thomas hopes to help friends and others feel better about themselves and understand who they are.
“If you are doing something right now that you’re unhappy with and you don’t like at all, but you’re doing it to please people around you, get out of that as soon as you can,” Thomas said. “Because you’re going to run out of time to experience the things that you actually want to experience in your life.”
