On Dec. 4, art teacher Emily Herrin’s first period Sculpture 2 students worked on their final exam project by creating flower bowls to donate to an Empty Bowls fundraiser. Empty Bowls is a charitable initiative that combats hunger through art and community involvement. Handmade ceramic bowls are featured at an event where guests purchase a simple meal, often soup and bread, served in the bowls. Guests keep the bowls as a reminder of hunger in their community, with proceeds supporting local hunger-relief programs. This project raises awareness, fosters community engagement and leaves a lasting impact. All Humble ISD high schools are contributing to this meaningful event.
