With the new round of Alien Stage, titled “Wiege,” coming out, fans have erupted their emotions onto the internet. Every fan has been filling the internet with theories, opinions, and very depressing ways to show their love for the song and the characters present in it.
“Wiege” has brought the series closer to an end, with almost all of the previous contestants being eliminated, with the exception of three of them. Two of the contestants, Luka and Hyuna, sing a song together for the last time. Luka and Hyuna were former friends (and implied lovers), but ever since Luka got into an intense fight with Hyuna’s brother, ultimately killing him, their relationship has been rocky. Luka has been known to manipulate his opponents in the singing rounds he participated in, making him win every round he was in. Hyuna, an escaped participant of the competition, found her way back in during the sixth round of Alien Stage, and spied on the final round, and even went to see Luka after the events of the final round. Her efforts ultimately caused her to “sacrifice” herself for Luka when a weapon was pointed at him, making Hyuna take the shot instead. Hyuna was all Luka had, and now she’s gone.
The music video shows the relationship Luka and Hyuna had before they were brought into the singing competition. While it focuses on them, it also shows the rest of the cast trying out costumes, making art, preparing for the competition not knowing that they would all eventually lose their lives. “Wiege” even went as far as to show the cast in a different universe, one where they weren’t taken from Earth, and they all lived normal lives. It is heartbreaking to see how happy they were, and to see the now deceased characters spending time with the ones they loved.
“Wiege” is a beautiful, slow and soft song. It portrays the relationships between characters in ways we haven’t seen before. It gives the viewers a glimpse of their realities, how in one moment you can have a fun, happy, colorful memory, and in the next moment that could all be gone.
