People seem to like Frank Ocean a lot. Is it because of his collabs or is his music really that good?
I say his music is really good. I like all his songs, even though a few of his songs are overplayed and over hyped.
Frank Ocean’s songs are praised deeply by fans, even other artists. His style blends R&B, pop and soul which makes his music unique. Most importantly, his music is emotional and it feels like his music is speaking directly to you in a way, “Thinking About You.” “Ivy” it feels like he’s telling a story about a relationship, a mixture between love and raw emotion. The only difference is that “Thinking About You” is a love that has ended, memories and heartbreak – while “Ivy” is like an unhealthy love you can’t remove yourself from almost like a metaphor. Ocean writes about love, heartbreak, hardship and problems. That’s what listeners connect to the most.
Even though Ocean rarely releases music, he still has a loyal fan base. They stay loyal because they hope he’ll release new songs or a snippet of lyrics. But really, who wouldn’t be loyal when his music is so comforting and melancholic? It feels like a familiar memory. His songs are unforgettable, that’s why his fan base waits.
Unlike many other artists whose music just doesn’t really stay irrelevant, Ocean’s songs stick around. They can play any song from his old albums and you would feel all those waves of emotions from his lyrics come back to you. His fans love to talk about whether or not they think he’s going to come back. They also all have theories about if he’s ever gonna drop music again.
That’s why people like Frank Ocean. His music just feels timeless, and that’s why his music is worth the wait.
