Japanese gaming giant Nintendo is promising fans something they have long desired: the ability to play Mario Kart and other games against friends no matter where they are.

The Nintendo Switch, a new console that serves as both a portable game system and an in-home control, will allow mobile gameplay, according to a just-released trailer. The new device is scheduled to be released in 2017.

The trailer, posted on YouTube on October 20, gives a fresh perspective on what the new Nintendo Switch console will provide for gamers and Nintendo junkies.

Some of the confirmed Nintendo Switch titles are “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” “Splatoon Switch” and “Mario Kart Switch.”

A handful of the games are very multiplayer-friendly.

A press release from Nintendo  says the Nintendo Switch provides “single and multiplayer thrills at home.”

With two detachable Joy-Con controllers on either side of the console, a player can use one in each hand or two players can each use one. This makes the Switch multiplayer friendly, inviting more people to use it to have fun with friends or loved ones.

The Switch rests in the charging dock that connects the system to the TV. When lifted from the dock, the system changes to portable mode.

“Nintendo Switch allows gamers the freedom to play however they like,” Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America said on Nintendo’s website.

The Switch has gained a lot of attention since the trailer release, because it is a very portable gaming system. It even caused some popular YouTube content creators to comment about it.

“Is it just me or does it look like it has garbage frame rate?” a popular YouTuber with multiple channels, including a gaming one, Max Stanley, also known as maxmoefoe, said in his video “IS THE NINTENDO SWITCH TRASH?”

While there are negative comments about the console, there are just as many positive ones full of hype and excitement.

“Nintendo has probably learned a lot from the Wii-U, so provided, they’ll get those things correct here,” Steven Williams (boogie2988), a well-known YouTuber who makes many videos on the topic of gaming, said about the reveal of the Nintendo Switch.

After some of the disappointment the Wii-U caused for Nintendo fans, many are worried that the Switch will not live up to expectations.

Nintendo fans just hope for a quality multiplayer console that is easy to work with and highlights the best things about what it is like to be a gamer.
