Standout Senior Athletes: Football

Gabby Norman, Staff Writer

Hayden Martin Park

Position: Defensive end

I’ve played for: 13 years, since I was 5

Best memory: Beating Porter and watching them cry afterward. I know that’s terrible to say, but I still wake up with a smile on my face and goosebumps thinking about it.

Favorite class: Engineering and Design with Mrs. Taylor sophomore year

Senior bucket list:

  • I wanted to enjoy my senior year as much as I could.
  • I didn’t want to stress.
  • I wanted to beat Porter, and we did that.
  • I want to fly in the cafeteria above something. I want like a string holding me, and I want to fly in the cafeteria.
  • Break up PDA in the hallway that happens every day.
  • Oh, I wanted to start a club, but it didn’t end up happening. You know, “Feminism?” We wanted to do, “Meninism.”

This summer I will: Work on lacrosse. Enjoy this summer, because in these next few years I’m going to have to start to grow up mostly and figure stuff out. I’m gonna get in better shape with lacrosse, and work to make some money.

The hardest part of leaving KPark: My sister. I protect her here, so now if something happens I’m four hours away. I’ve got to drive here and beat a dude up or something. Leaving my sister and little brother will be the hardest part, [and] my mom cooking for me. I’m not a bad cook, but I prefer to have my mom cooking for me. Definitely my mom and my grandma’s cooking. Definitely that.

Sibling: My sister is a sophomore, and my little brother, Owen, is in 4th.

Dream job: Stay-at-home dad. I plan on staying on the side of the A&M medical building and finding my wife. That’s my plan. Like having people write their names and numbers down, and I’m going to find my wife.

Something about me that people don’t know: People say certain stuff about me that’s not true. That I’m mean and a jerk, which I’m not really. I’m a big old teddy bear. I’m not a mean person. I don’t do BS well. I don’t take disrespect well. I’ll respect you if you respect me, but when people cross that line, I then become a jerk. I’m not one to always confront, but if I need to, I’m going to confront you. Honestly I’m just a big old teddy bear.

Samuel Ames Johansen

I’ve played: Football and baseball since I was 5

Position: Quarterback and linebacker

College: Texas A&M for business

Favorite class: Pre-Cal, it was easy

Best memory: Just all the friendships you make and the locker room stuff

What I will miss: Just like eating lunch every day and hanging out with [my] friends

Senior Bucket List: Just hanging in there and trying to get through it

Summer Plans: I’m working speed camp up here, and I’m coaching 7 on 7, no vacations or anything this year

Hardest part of leaving: The teachers and the coaches, not getting to see them every day

Hardest part of going to college: Probably having so much free time, and having to be productive with it. The classes will probably be hard.

Siblings: Anna, 19, Will, 21, and Ben, 23

Dream job: Working in sports in some way

Something about me that most people don’t know: I like to be at home. I don’t like to go out and do a lot of stuff, I just like to be at home with my family

What I’d like to leave for current and future Panthers: Just work hard because it will be over before you know it, and it’s fun.
