Do you think it is important to have a personal connection with a teacher?  Ms. Rolanda Wilkins, my Child Development teacher, showed interest in all of her students.  At the start of this year when everyone was still virtual, we had a breathing and meditation exercise before her first Zoom meeting even started.  This calmed my nerves and anxiety about starting a new class on Zoom.

Ms. Wilkins always wanted her students to enjoy her class and not be stressed out about the classwork.  She believed in class participation and working together.  For example, every morning she would be at the door to greet everyone and would ask the class if we wanted the lights on or off. The classroom had a calming environment with lamps and diffusers.

Another example, is the class was not just full of book work. There were also fun activities and group projects.  Mostly on Fridays she would let us have a work day.  This was always really helpful for me because I got to catch up on other classes.

Even after I went to virtual learning during the year, Ms. Wilkins kept the virtual learners engaged and put a lot of effort into her learning strategies. She had a special way of teaching. I really enjoyed her class and would recommend the class to anyone.

Overall, I believe that Ms. Wilkins is an amazing teacher and is very kind, caring, and puts a lot of effort into her work. She has always been someone that I look up to and would love to be like her one day. I always enter her classroom with a smile.
