Before I moved to Texas, I had to go though my whole room and pack all my belongings. During that time, I found items that were important to me and held special memories. I found a box with designs of windows that lead out to a beach, along with white flowers around the brim of the box. Inside the box was light grey coastal clouds with purple flowers within them. Throughout the process of packing, I set aside items for my new memory box.

A year later, the box sits in my closet. As I rummage through the box, I find hidden memories that seem silly, but are why I made the box in the first place.
- The minion hat my best friend’s aunt crocheted for her and I, which we would go on walks together wearing.
- A raccoon puppet which I’ve had ever since I was a little girl, with one eye missing and both ears gone, from several attacks from my dogs.
- Jewelry from my grandmother that she gave me. The pieces once belonged to my great grandmother.
- A picture frame of a dachshund sitting happily on a red couch. When I found this at my local thrift store I had to take him home with me. I named the puppy Bob, and the picture became a joke to my family. We even took it on our family cruise.
- A tiny dog collar that my dog Riley wore when he was a puppy.
- A little baggy of a braid of my hair from when I was younger. I have no idea why I cut it off, but nonetheless it is interesting to see now.
- A grey cat stuffed animal sleeping in a bed. I got this when I was little as it reminded me of my favorite cat when I was little, Indie. I got the sleeping cat outside of Notre-Dame De Paris cathedral. A few weeks later the cathedral burnt down.
- Two little cloth dolls that fit in the palm of my hand. A friend of my grandmother made them for me. The dolls have woolen clothes made from her sheep farm that I visited every summer with my grandparents.
- A wooden keychain in the shape of a heart with my name written in Arabic that my mom got me in Egypt while she visited distant family.
- A silver bracelet designed to resemble accent roman bracelets, which I got in the Roman baths in Britain.
- Two little babies the size of a penny wrapped on a string. My friend and I would bring these with us to lunch everyday. The babies didn’t have a purpose, but they were the most fun thing in the world at the time.
To people who aren’t close to me, many of these items would seem pointless. To me, they are the memories of my friends and I laughing. They are travels I took with my family. They are random objects I have found that made me happy for no reason.
Most of all, these items remind me of my favorite thing I do – laugh.
