Freshman football team vies for district title

The freshman black team is currently undefeated and hoping to become the second team in Kingwood Park’s history to win a district title on the freshman level.

The freshman black team is playing its last home game Thursday against Barbers Hill at 6:30 p.m. The theme for fans is black out.

Linebacker Owen Park leads the team in assisted tackles with 23 and tackles for loss with 10. Quarterback Landon Hinson has thrown for 941 yards and 15 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Kye Wehby has 29 receptions for 548 yards and 10 touchdowns.

“It’s one of the best freshman groups to ever come through here in an extremely long time,” freshman coach Oscar Vargas said. “This is a team that is loaded with talent. Every starting position is going to be contributing to this program for the next four years.”
