Freshman Ulysses Rushin has always wanted to be in charge. Ever since he was little, he has loved politics, especially the idea of representing Texas.
“Whenever I am bored, I’ll start ranting about Texas,” Rushin said.
Whenever he visits different states with his grandparents, he often finds that none of them compare to Texas. Rushin first discovered his passion for Texas in seventh grade when he first learned Texas history.
“My belief is that Texas is the greatest state in the union,” Rushin said. “I just really love Texas. I was born here, I’ve always lived here, all of the other states are terrible compared to Texas.”
Rushin wants to have a career in politics, specifically Texas politics. When talking about his future, he expresses how much he wants to make a change for Texas. From wanting to become governor to wanting to expand Texas and regain parts of New Mexico and Oklahoma for Texas, Rushin has big goals.
Rushin plans to go to college to study political science and to learn more about the history of Texas.
“I love Texas, always have, always will,” he said.
