With the 2024 Formula 1 Racing season underway, now is the time for everyone to tune in to the sport.

Formula 1 is a unique racing sport that is composed of only 10 teams who compete in the design, building, and racing of their two cars. The sport is known for its advanced technology and key role in European entertainment.

However, the popularity of F1 in the United States has skyrocketed in recent years. The Netflix documentary series Drive to Survive has introduced many Americans to F1.

Drive to Survive, incorporates the rules of F1 to make racing easy to understand. The TV show also showcases the personalities and relationships between drivers— something F1 viewers typically don’t have access to.

By watching Drive to Survive fans can find their favorite driver and teams to support. From world champion drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Fernando Alonso, to young charismatic drivers like Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, and Yuki Tsunoda.

The latest season of Drive to Survive was recently released in February, making it easier than ever to follow F1 this season. There is also plenty of entertainment to follow with live races for the 2024 season.

Within the past few years, F1 race outcomes have become predictable. Red Bull has dominated as a team, along with their driver Max Verstappen leading the field individually. Further, teams haven’t had much competition between drivers. Most drivers in the team’s first seat consistently beat their second seat teammates.

Big changes are ahead in the coming seasons that will break the repetitive outcomes in races.

F1 star Lewis Hamilton is leaving the Mercedes team for Ferrari in 2025. Hamilton holds the record for most wins in the sport and his team switch is sure to shake things up in F1.

Due to Hamilton’s team change, current Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, is currently “seatless” for next season. He will likely replace another driver, resulting in some of the biggest changes in recent years.

On the track, positions of many other drivers may change. While in the stands, fans will be forced to decide where their loyalty lies— with their driver or with their team.

In 2024, there will be a record number of 24 F1 races. Of the 24 races, 3 will be hosted in the United States, more than any other country this season. The competitions are being exhibited in Miami, Las Vegas, and Austin.

The Miami International Autodrome will take place on May 5. With a new season of Drive to Survive and an upcoming race in the States, there is no better time for Americans to start watching F1.
