Throughout the year students raised animals to show at the Humble Livestock Show and at the Houston Livestock Show. Meet some of the kids and the animals that they reached auction with this year.

Brayan Skero, 11th grade
What animal did you raise and what was the name? “I raised a steer and his name was Mickey.”
What rodeo did you show at? Humble Rodeo
What place did you get? Grand Champion
Do you have a favorite story or a funny story from show? “The unified show was just super inspiring for all of us.”
What was your biggest challenge? “Probably just showing honestly because my steer was a bit ornery, the entire year I just couldn’t get him where I wanted to be.”
What was the most rewarding part of show for you? “The most rewarding part was definitely winning, because it’s just what I’ve always dreamed of basically.”

Ashlyn Stadelbacher, 10th grade
What animal did you raise and what was the name? “I raised a goat and his name was Kermit.”
What rodeo did you show at? Humble Livestock Show.
What place did you get? 6th place goat
Do you have a favorite story or a funny story from show? “When I was younger, I showed 4H, and I would always have a goat get out like every single year, but luckily one didn’t get out this year.”
What was your biggest challenge? “Finding the motivation to work with my animal.”
What was the most rewarding part of show for you? “Just making a spot and seeing my hard work paid off.”

Cameron Spangler, 12th grade
What animal did you raise and what was the name? “I did pig and chickens, the pig was named Winnie and I didn’t name the chickens.”
What rodeo did you show at? Humble Livestock Show and Houston Livestock Show
What place did you get? 3rd for chickens
Do you have a favorite story or a funny story from show? “This girl was holding my chicken and then it ended up dying. And we tried to hold in the laughter because she was just holding up a dead chicken.”
What was your biggest challenge? “Probably holding up the birds for a long time it gets kinda exhausting, and for the pig just trying to get it to act right for a long period of time.”
What was the most rewarding part of show for you? “Probably the placing that I did in the whole show.”

Patrick Torres, 11th grade
What animal did you raise and what was the name? “I raised a Grey Brahman, her name was Stirrup.”

What place did you get? 11th place
Do you have a favorite story or a funny story from show? “One of the Brahman was crazy in the progress show and she snapped her chain and started running around with everyone trying to catch her.”
What was your biggest challenge? “Probably training her because they’re really stubborn and it’s hard to get them to show and be patient.”
What was the most rewarding part of show for you? “Just the experience and the discipline from having to take care of her and just kind of get her to be calm.”

Katlynn Stewart, 12th grade
What animal did you raise and what was the name? “A steer and his name was Rocky.”

What place did you get? 6th place steer
Do you have a favorite story or a funny story from show? “I was out there and he tripped me while I was walking.”
What was your biggest challenge? “Probably to stay calm and not to stress out over him.”
What was the most rewarding part of show for you? “Making auction with him.”

Abriel Macias, 11th grade
What animal did you raise and what was the name? “I had a goat and its name was Ganella.”
What rodeo did you show at? Humble rodeo
What place did you get? 7th place
Do you have a favorite story or a funny story from show? “One of my favorite parts was when me and my unified buddy showed and me and her won grand champion.”
What was the most rewarding part of show for you? “When I won the Humble Livestock Show calf scramble on Friday night.”

Breanna Muller, 10th grade
What animal did you raise and what was the name? “I showed rabbits. I had Two-Bit, Ponyboy, Johnny, Elphaba and Glinda.”
What rodeo did you show at? Humble Livestock Show
What place did you get? 3rd place
Do you have a favorite story or a funny story from show? “A funny story from show is that during Special Kids Day, I had Two-Bit out. There was this one time where one of the kids reached over and grabbed Two-Bit. I wasn’t sure how he’d respond because normally he didn’t like being grabbed by other people. But he actually fell asleep in this kid’s lap. Right after, that my teacher tried to grab him and he jumped out of their arms.”
What was your biggest challenge? “This was my first time showing rabbits, before this I showed lamb and AG mechanics, so I had zero experience with rabbits, but I somehow ended up with 3rd overall.”
What was the most rewarding part of show for you? “Not only the placement, but also how at auction I ended up with $2,100 from my rabbits, and they were donated back to me. So now I still have them and take care of them and take them to jackpot shows.”
