Halloween is a time where people have their own set of traditions—whether it’s carving pumpkins, watching scary movies or sneaking extra candy when no one’s looking. While some do not celebrate Halloween, others go above and beyond the usual costumes and decorations.
During the fall season, some people get together to throw Halloween parties with their friends or family.
“My Halloween tradition is I invite my friends to my house and we stay out all night getting candy and after that they spend the night,” senior Jesus Romero said.
Many people love to dress up for Halloween. Most of the time the costumes are scary, cute or comical.
“This year, me and my girlfriend are gonna be vampires,” senior Hagen Smith said.
Besides the costumes, people love Halloween because of the free candy they get if they go trick or treating. Many also like it because of certain events that come back like the haunted mazes, haunted houses and pumpkin patches. During this time people also love watching horror movies.
There are a ton of uses for pumpkins, some people carve them and make funny faces, some people gut the pumpkin and bake the seeds to make certain recipes.
Food is also a major reason people love the fall season. Pumpkin spice is highlighted in drinks and some baked goods
”I love pumpkin muffins,” senior Cadence McMahon said. “It’s my mom’s recipe and they’re just really good and it’s really nostalgic.”
Non-traditional activities also get adopted by some families. They help create memories that stick with them forever.
“We’ve been having pumpkin fights,” senior Devon Piazza said. “Where you throw pumpkins and pumpkin seeds at each other and we’ve been doing it for a couple of years.”
