Cross Country teams dominate district meet

The boys and girls cross country teams both took home district titles as they continue their ultimate quests to reach the state championships . The district meet was held at Atascocita High School Oct. 13. The teams will now regroup and focus on the Regional Championships on Oct. 24-25 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Sophomores Elijah Merino and Lucy Foltz each took gold. Merino won the varsity boys’ division in a time of 16:11.06. Foltz won the girls’ varsity division with a time of 19:05.21. Junior Elina Bailey and senior Vivian Garcia took 2nd and 3rd, respectively. In the boys’ race, senior Osvaldo Jasso and junior Clay White finished in the top 5.

The girls won their first district title since 2020 and their ninth one overall. The boys won the title last year as well. They fell just five points shy of qualifying for the State Meet as a team last year.
