When freshman Micah Anthis moved from Atascosita Middle School to Kingwood Park, he expected being social would be a challenge.
“It was hard going into high school where all my friends weren’t,” he said. “Now I’m learning to make new ones. I didn’t like it at first, but it’s getting better.”
Along with all advanced core classes, Anthis also plays baseball for the school and outside of school.
“I love the competitions because I like challenges,” he said.
He said he strives to stay on top of all of his work, but extracurricular activities sometimes make it hard.
“I do all my homework after practice,” Anthis said. “It’s hard, but I stay on track to keep good grades.”
Going into high school, Anthis had a bit of an easier time than he thought he would. He didn’t think he would know anyone and would struggle to make friends. He then realized that a lot of his outside baseball team went to Kingwood Park. Having friends to hang out with in and outside of school made it easier for him to branch out and be more social.
“Having my closest friends around me really helped to become more social and make new friends,” Anthis said.
