- Your teammates will always support you. There were lots of games that I had trouble with because of loss of breath. Even when I hurt my hip, it was hard to run and I couldn’t get back fast enough to help. But I had my team who kept working hard to pick up my slack.
- Asking for help is not giving up, it’s you wanting to continue. It’s hard to ask for help, trust me, I know. But I still try to. It’s difficult, but when I can’t defend by myself I have people behind me willing to come in and help when I ask.
- You are your biggest supporter and your biggest enemy. When I play, I always try to think positive, but the negativity can show when you least expect it. That’s why it’s important to stay positive in the game when you think you’re behind. Keep your head up high and keep working.
- Never hide your injuries. You may be thinking, ‘If they know you’re injured you can’t play,’ but it’s important to let them be aware so you can have a speedy recovery rather than a long lasting injury. Make sure you really recover before you get onto the field.
- Teamwork is key to success. You may think you can do it all alone, but it’s so much better with your team, your friends, and your family. It is always good to ask for help or advice. Working together makes it easier and gives you more chances to win in a game, pass a test or even win in UNO.
While finding success in soccer can be challenge, the work and the sacrifices are worth it.
