For the second year in a row, the Panther baseball team is headed back to the state tournament.
In a tough three-game series against Port Neches-Grove, the Panthers fought back to become Regional Final Champions for the second year in a row. The Panthers lost the first game, 8-3, of a doubleheader on May 22 at Crosby High School. The boys then forced extra innings in the second game to win 8-4.
Kingwood Park defeated Port Neches Groves, 5-1, in the decisive third game at Lufkin on May 23.
The Panthers advance to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. A year ago, the team lost to Grapevine in the State Championships. This year’s state title game will be held June 5 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
