Girls basketball finishes second in district, prepares for playoffs

Seniors Katie Gerbasich and Favor Rogers jump for a shoulder bump during player introductions against Nacogdoches.

The girls basketball team finished the regular season ranked second in district play with a 7-3 record. They finished 14-14 overall and ended the season with a three-game winning streak. A year ago, the girls reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Weiss.

This year, the team’s first-round playoff game will be against Longview (23-9, 9-5 in district) at Central Heights High School in Nacogdoches at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
