When prom arrives, students will celebrate at the J.W. Marriott in downtown Houston.

On May 7, the Class of 2022 is set to celebrate their prom in style at one of the most highly rated hotels in downtown Houston. Seniors and their dates will dance the night away from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. at the famous J.W. Marriott on Main Street.

This year’s prom motto is “Double or Nothing!” Although because of a lack of venue space there will be no gambling or games, there will definitely be Las Vegas-esque decorations. The prom planners are trying to get mocktails and other specialty drinks for the attendees.

Beyond those themed items, there’s still questions as to what will be present at the dance.

“We’re still trying to figure out how to make it the Las Vegas-theme besides all the decorations and stuff,” senior class president Kade Terrell said.

Terrell has been working on the Class of 2022’s prom since he was voted president last May. The process of planning a prom everyone likes has been challenging.

“I’m just trying to make it the best that I can for everyone,” Terrell said. “There’s no target audience, I’m just trying to please everyone.”

Despite knowing he has some doubters, Terrell is confident that this year’s prom will be a success. And he isn’t the only one. Most seniors are greatly anticipating the night.

“I’m most definitely looking forward to prom night,” senior Emmy Segura said. “This is supposed to be the best night for seniors.”

In the end, the only way to know how prom goes is to be there yourself. Tickets remain on sale for $100

“Enjoy it while it lasts,” Terrell said. “You only have one prom or two proms in your life, so go and have fun.”
