Meet forward Biva Byrd

Junior Biva Byrd has helped lift the Panthers to the top position in the district standings as the team starts its second round of district games. Last week, Byrd surpassed two milestones. She surpassed 1,000 career rebounds and 1,000 career points.

Q: What is one of your main strengths you bring to the team?

A: I’m probably like, helping them rebound and just like, I’m on offense, you know, helping them score more.

Q: How old were you when you first started playing?

A: Probably when I was 6.

Q: What superstitions do you have before you play?

A: I just stretch and then I pray.

Q: What music do you like to listen to before you play?

A: Definitely, pump up music.

Q: Who or what is your biggest motivation?

A: Probably my dad. He’s always motivating me.

Q: What is one of your personal goals for the rest of the season?

A: Just to play hard and help the team win to go far in the playoffs.

Q: Describe a time that you thought about quitting the team but you kept on going with it?

A: Every time we do bad in a game and then we have to go to practice the next day because coach is mad at me.

Q: Describe a funny moment that you have with the team?

A: Probably when we’re all at Fuddruckers, just flat out laughing and joking around.
