“With all the technology we have now, we’re all just consuming and taking in for pleasure rather than creating and adding a sense of beauty and worth back out there for the world to enjoy.” - Sarah Martell, junior.

For Sarah Martell, talking about photography is both like taking a walk down memory lane and sneaking a glance into her future. Martell’s photography career began when Instagram became a popular app for teens when she was in sixth grade. When Martell signed up, most of the people using the app were professional photographers looking for a new place to display their pictures. She made an account before many of her friends, quickly becoming more invested in the photographers and the pictures they took. Martell realized that she wanted to be involved in taking pictures as well. Her first photos were all taken on her iPod and edited to perfection, or at least, to what a 12-year-old Sarah Martell envisioned that to be. The pictures still have the ability to make her smile, and she isn’t afraid to show her old portraits that were once her pride and joy.
